Everyting set for final day

Copa Del Rey - Everyting set for final day
PALMA DE MALLORCA, SPAIN-(6-8-2005) Bribón wins the coastal regatta, while Movistar leads the general classification in TP 52. CAM wins the first test and increases its advantage in the general of IMS 500. Maserati – Viña Mar gets the victory in the second race. Andalucía Te Quiere and Forum Filatélico, winners in the two tests of the day. Movistar remains first in IMS 600 classification. In IMS 670 Quum Sevilla almost reaches final victory of the Copa del Rey – Agua Brava.

Wind direction of 235º with an intensity of 10 knots allowed to celebrate the regattas scheduled for today.

In TP 52 class the general classification still is unclear; although Movistar and Lexus Quantum have more possibilities of achieving the final victory, with just one point of difference among them.

From the beginning of today´s coastal race, the equality in the first stretch of the course has been maximum, with a start by the committee side and the tacking to the right side by the whole fleet. Bribón sailed in a good unmarked position that allowed it to tack first in the favoured side, and on arriving in the first buoy it was already leader, remaining in this position during the rest of the test due to its excellent performance with no mistakes and agile manoeuvres. Behind Bribón, the pressure was maximum as Movistar, Atalanti, Orlanda Olympus and Caixa Galicia carried out a close fight. But, like in most of the coastal regattas, once the hauls disappear, the positions change or the overtaking are very difficult, and the failures manoeuvre decide the winners.

In the first race of IMS 500 class, CAM led the rest of the fleet again, with only 15 seconds ahead of Codorníu and 50 seconds over Santa Ana. Maserati – Viña Mar arrived sixth and Bribón seventh, losing this way many points with regard to CAM. In the second race, Maserati Viña Mar aware of being in a unfavourable situation to win the Copa del Rey – Agua Brava, risked in the start and sailed on the right side, whereas CAM decided the left side, winning for a scarce margin keeping the distance to Santa Ana, second, and Azur de Puig, third. With these results CAM keeps an advantage of 9.5 points ahead Maserati Viña Mar and 11 over Azur de Puig.

In IMS 600 class all participants keep the hope to get the victory so it is very difficult to settle down the possible winner. Andalucía Te Quiere first, Movistar second, and Fermax third, gave out the classification of today’s first test. In the second test, Forum Filatélico arrived first with authority followed by Ono and Zurich. Those results will lead the contenders to a clear tactic for tomorrow´s race: close follow up of Movistar, the leader to the main pursuivants, Forum Filatélico, second to 3,5 points, and Andalucía Te Quiere which is in third position to 6.5 points. Fermax remains fourth with 19 points of difference from the first one, a wide distance to opt for the final victory.

In IMS 670 class, Quum Sevilla keeps its leadership, after winning the seventh and the eight tests of the Copa del Rey – Agua Brava, followed in the first test by Velux and Card & Oil. In the second test Card & Oil went second, followed by Movistar. This way, Quum Sevilla is first with 25 points before Movistar in second place, which replaces Mutua Madrileña - Diversidad which now is third with 27.5 points of difference from the Quum Sevilla.
